Moonfleet A took on Bournemouth A in this latest Ladies County league match played at home. Gill Lock, Sue Board, Di Edwards and skip Carole Venton had a really close contest against the visiting rink with skip S Dadson. The Moonfleet quartet crept ahead over the first half of the game to lie 9 – 4 by end ten and they continued to keep on top opening up a greater lead of 13 – 5 by end fourteen. The Bournemouth foursome then hit back with two big ends to close the gap and nudge ahead by just one shot. The visitors stayed in front and widened the lead to 18 – 14, but the hosts held their nerve to win the final two ends and level the score at 18 – 18.

On the other rink Karen Hofen, Mairi Mathie, Chris Thompson and skip Linda Bryson dominated from the start and after five ends had built up a 10 – 0 lead against the Bournemouth ladies with skip J Halliwell. The visitors came to life to close the gap to 14 – 9 to Moonfleet by end twelve, but the hosts kept up the pressure to widen the gap again to 22 – 9 over the next four ends. Although the Bournemouth rink took all of the final four ends, they did not add enough shots to prevent the hosts from claiming a 22 – 16 victory and an overall 40 – 34 total.
