MOONFLEET B 43 v EAST DORSET B 33
Moonfleet B travelled to East Dorset in this penultimate Ladies County League fixture of the season. Mary Dunne, Ruby Spavins, Jill Gwilliam and skip Judy Why had a game of two different halves against the East Dorset rink with skip M Glynn. The first six ends saw the two sides evenly matched at 5 shots each and then again 7 shots apiece three ends later. The hosts then slid into a 13 – 7 lead, but it was short-lived as the Moonfleet quartet moved up a gear and totally dominated the next eight ends to turn the tables and move into a very comfortable 22 – 13 lead by the penultimate end. Two shots to East Dorset on the last end meant that the visitors finished with a fine 22 – 15 win.
On the other rink Karen Hofen, Julie Watts, Mary Corben and skip Ruth Neary had another game of mixed fortunes against the home rink with skip B Doling. The Moonfleet ladies moved into an early lead and were 10 – 3 ahead by end eight when the hosts began to close the gap to lie just one shot behind 9 – 10 by end eleven. Although the visitors won the next two ends, the East Dorset rink took control of the next six ends to bring the scores level at 16 shots each with two ends to go. The Fleet foursome though, pulled a five shot haul out of the bag on the very next end and with only two shots to the hosts on the last end, the visitors set off home with a 21 – 18 victory on this rink, an overall 43 – 33 total and a maximum 8 points for the match.
